Michele is a devoted wife and mother to five wonderful kids. She spent most of her childhood in upstate New York and moved to Charlotte, NC when she was a sophomore in high school. Michele received her BS in Nursing from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, and worked several years in the Neurosurgical ICU before moving to Texas to work in the Emergency Department. Michele met her husband, Stuart, on a mission trip to Mexico, and after marrying, the couple spent 4 years serving in Mexico City, where three of their children were born.
Michele has always had a heart to serve and a love for children.
She and her husband were foster parents in Austin TX, before moving to Colorado to run a Christian Family and Youth Camp, where Michele served as the camp nurse and mentored young women. Seven years ago, Michele and her family returned to North Carolina to live closer to her parents and to enjoy the greatest state in the country!
Over the past 17 years, Michele’s children have been involved in public, private, and homeschool. She has seen the benefits and pitfalls of each system and will bring a unique perspective to the Wake County School Board. Her oldest daughter, Megan, suffered from congestive heart failure as an infant, and as a result, struggled with learning differences and developmental delays. Michele spent several years advocating for Megan and trying to get her the therapies and education that would help her to thrive and become all that she is intended to be.
Michele holds the same compassion and desire for all young people.
Michele believes that all people are created in God’s image and have unique strengths and talents to invest in the community around them. Michele has been intimately involved in the battle for educational excellence here in NC, volunteering her time and offering solutions to legislators for the past 6 years.
Michele is running for Wake County school board to help transform our public educational system so that it is the absolute best option for every family and an example for the rest of the country to follow.
She believes that learning should be a lifelong pursuit and our public educational system can make or break that desire for our children. Every classroom experience should inspire our youngest citizens to discover their strengths and interests and encourage them to overcome their weaknesses.
Her desire is for Wake County's public schools to produce mature young adults who are able to enter our diverse workforce and become the future leaders in our state.
Michele believes that North Carolina's future rides
upon the shoulders of the next generation.
Will you join Michele as she strives to bring greatness back to our schools and hope back to our community? TOGETHER, we can return our educational system to the top of the class.
Let’s put our children first, for a better future for us all.
Michele invites you to join her.
